importance of your quality manual

Your Quality Control Manual is the most important document in your quality management system. Outlining the organizations quality policies, your QCM must convey these policies to the world. This includes responsible people within your organization as well as your clients. The QCM has two primary goals:

1. To provide instructions internally regarding the activities and goals required for your formal quality program, and

2. To convey confidence externally that your program has the controls necessary to ensure your policies are implemented and maintained.

The contents of the QCM must include the elements your clients expect to find in a documented quality management system.

ISO 9001:2000 is considered the "Standard" by which quality management systems are measured. Your documentation will likely be evaluated against the ISO requirements.

The stand alone QCM includes policies that comply with ISO 9001:2000 requirements and follows the ISO format making it simple to audit.

A well written QCM includes the elements of ISO and meets client expectations.
